Black Rhino and Tickbird want to know why Crocodile is crying.  Since they’re hesitant to ask him what’s wrong, they decide to ask other animals if they know the answer.  Rhino and Tickbird search for Golden Eagle, Elephant, Maasai Giraffe, Cheetah, and others but discover that the animals are difficult to find.  Why are there so few remaining?  Is that why Crocodile is crying?  There is only one way to find out for sure.

This thoughtful story with a humorous twist conveys an important message about the endangered land and animals of Africa.  The book includes photographs and factual information about each of the creatures featured.

Alex Beard is an artist whose work has been shown in New Orleans, Los Angeles, New York, and Hong Kong, among other cities.  He has travelled on photo expeditions to Africa as well as many other places around the world.  For more than twenty years, Alex has worked to raise awareness of the plight of endangered animals and their habitats through his art and his stories.
